Tree of Life

I loved this design so much I had it tattoo'd by Kike Pateno at Arte Sagrado Tattoo in Lima Peru.

This is what your artowrk means to me.

I love how the traditional tree of life houses the genetic tree of life. In the middle I see an Astrolabe which seems to channel Hypatia of Alexandria, the gears on in the middle appear to reference the Antikythera mechanism which is belived to have been built by Archimedes, There is a Sextant on the edge which allowed us to navigate using the stars and begin exploring the globe. The spheres in a line downward are in proportion to be Mercury, Earth, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn (with rings), Uranus (with rings) and Neptune (Planets visible with telescopes).

Finally, the position of the long arm extending stright down toward the 6 o'clock position, and the Sextant arm, also look like a clock. The sextant is pointing to 37 minutes after 6 o'clock, which would be 18:37 in 24 hour (military) time. 1837 is which Darin first wrote in his journal the famous drawing of the tree of life and his idea of transmutation of species.
